This words and phrases are very useful...
bells and whistles: Excessive or unnecessary features on something; showy or flashy parts. Ex: My father bought a new computer with all the bells and whistles. I think it even makes toast.
Explanation: 'Bells' and 'whistles' make noise and attract attention, but they are not a necessary part of most things.
Aka : Also known as; pronounced as separate letters -- 'a-k-a'. Ex: Chester Hooligan, aka 'Deke Magoon', is wanted by the police for armed robbery.
Airead : Someone who isn't very smart; a stupid person. Ex: Susan and Jim are such airheads -- they love sports but they are failing all of their classes at school!
in one's hair: Constantly annoying; bothering someone again and again. Ex: My little brother is always getting in my hair! Ex 2: Be careful how you fill out your tax forms -- you don't want the government in your hair.
Explanation: It can be difficult to remove something that is caught in your hair. For example, if you get chewing gum in your hair it can take hours to get it out -- and it's very annoying to do. So if a person is 'in your hair', they are annoying and hard to get rid of.
In cahoots: In a partnership, with an implication of criminality; working together on secret plans. Ex: I'm afraid our accountant may be in cahoots with the local crime boss.
Explanation: This phrase was in use by the early 1820s. It may derive from the French word for cabin, 'cahute' -- and thus refer to people planning something in a small cabin or house, beyond observation.
